What is the Mt. Tabor Brewery?
We concentrate on specific area in custom, small batch brewing for local businesses, events, and consumers. Our passion is beer and sustainability. With a focus on friends and neighbors, we try for,exert oneself to serve the Mt Tabor, Montavilla and encircling neighborhoods basic, keeping the minimal element footprint likely,attainable. Oh, and we love beer!
Can you tell me about yourselves?
Brian lives in the Mount Tabor neighborhood with his married woman Kim, female child Georgia, son Finnegan, dog Roxy, Georgia"s fish Sugarpops and a third child is due in the middle of May. He everything full-time for a financial services company overseeing risk and supervisory compliance matters, and spends about half his time at allied headquarters in Houston, Texas. When he"s not in Houston or spending time with friends and family he makes beer with Eric.Eric lives in Vancouver with his married woman Amy and their kids Jack & Emilie. Eric"s a sales rep in the fire protection industry what under the current economic environment helps out with the brew schedule quite nicely. Between traveling the NW for work and two little kids belongings are forever,continually hopping in the Surface house. How long have you guys been brewing?
Three years this September.
What beers do you brew and what is special about Mt. Tabor beers?
We tend to focus on standard Ales and then adjust them to fit our private,individual preference. For example, our porter falls inside the BJCP style guidelines for a Robust Porter but we dry hop it with Cascade hops because we like it that method,technique. Also, in the established practice of some of the lawman officer quality breweries in the world (Coors, Hamms, and of course Olympia), we have an outstanding water beginning,point of supply. Instead of Rocky Mountain, Artesian Well, or "sky blue" water, still,nevertheless, we have water straight from Mount Tabor. And probably nearly all importantly, we love beer.
Why did you choose Montavilla for your business location?
Our original business plan called for brewing custom beer for events, home systems and businesses in the Montavilla/Mount Tabor neighborhoods, so Montavilla was a probable,reasonable choice for scene,background up shop. Also, Brian lives up the path upon what travel occurs and our friend Jason had extra space in Montavilla he could sub-lease to us so we went for it.
You have a launch party coming up soon can you tell me about that? Wheres it going to be and what beers will be there?
Thursday, March 11th at the Canton Grill from 4 - 9pm (unless the beer runs out before then). We will first public appearance our Dragon Lounge Pale Ale and Qwest Porter and we"ll give away a free t-shirt each hour on the hour. About the Canton: Brian"s in-laws own the Canton Grill so it seemed like a probable,reasonable place to start selling our beer. In fact, that"s in what way or manner we got the courage to make the leap from homebrewers to commercial: we asked if they would be concerned,curious in selling our beer and they pronounced absolutely. 11 months later here we are! The Canton Grill has been in the family since inception back in August of 1944. The Dragon Lounge has evolved over the years from a Piano Bar to a Karaoke Lounge, and now hopefully a destination for great regionally produced Mt Tabor beer.
Can you ever see yourselves opening a pub in the Montavilla neighborhood?
Absolutely. Our focus right now is learning in what way or manner to be part-time brewers and keep our first customer content. Once we check that box then we will figure out in what way or manner to continue being part-time brewers but add a few more customers. After that, a brewpub is something we"d definitely like to add and based on what we"ve seen so far, the neighborhood would love it.

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Both the Indiana House and Senate have certified a new alcohol bill and now it sits on the table of Governor Mitch Daniels, looking forward his signature.

It could end up being a big boost for individual local brewer if he can fill the desires of beer drinkers lacking,inadequate to buy on a Sunday.

For some beer drinkers, theres nothing better than a microbrew or craft beer.

"Its an industry thats been around for more than 30 years," Turonis Head Brewer Jack Frey pronounced. "It started with home brewers that realized I make pretty good beer, I think Im going to do this commercial. We do 7 cylindrical container batches, 31 gallons per barrel."

Theyre proud to be the alone,barely,exclusively microbrewery now operating in the Tri-State.

"For about 2-hours, one,some,unspecified,indiscriminate direction, were it," Frey pronounced.

"It will definitely have an effect and it may have a bigger effect than I think it will," Frey pronounced. "Any sales are good sales."

Home-brewing bill passes state house

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A bill that would allow,validate the act of brewing beer at home has overwhelmingly passed the House of Representatives by a 76-19 vote. Home brewers approached the bill"s composer of written work last fall about legalizing their practice."I felt that there was an state of being unequal and there wanted to be equality,balance brought inside the law for the home brewers," says State Representative Colby Schwartz, who authored House Bill 2348.

It allows a human being to brew up to 200 gallons of beer at home each year "if made solely for the private,individual use of the maker, his family and guests."

This year marks the basic of two annual celebrations of beer-brewing: The River City Brewers Festival will take place on March 13th at Handy Park in city Memphis and benefits St. Jude Children"s Research Hospital. The Memphis Brewfest

will take place on April 24th at AutoZone Park and benefits Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.

The River City festival will feature two sessions: session A from noon to 4 p.m. and session B from 6 to 10 p.m. Each session will offer samples of 75 different beers, seminars on the history and craft of beer, and an lucky chance,favorable circumstances to meet with brewers (not just sales representatives) from breweries all over the country. There will be live sounds that are acceptable,friendly,harmonized at 12:30 p.m. from the Mighty Electric St. Jude Band, a group made up of St. Jude doctors and employees, and at 6:30 p.m., Mudflap King will take the stage.

, the event"s director, is a longtime beer lover (he"s been to beer festivals from Denver, Colorado, to Athens, Georgia), and he is the father of a child with muscular dystrophy. So, offset a beer festival was an obvious choice to benefit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. The festival will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at AutoZone Park, with a performance by Patrick Dodd and Evolution and more than 95 kinds of beer from all over the world.
